This policy explains what information genshinimpactmap.com ("the site", "we", "us") collects when you use it, how that information is used, which third parties are involved and what choices you have.

Summary

  • You do not need an account, and we never ask for your name, email address or game account.
  • Your map progress and settings are saved only in your own browser.
  • Our hosting provider processes standard technical data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and stop abuse.

Information stored in your browser

The map remembers your choices using your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us. It includes:

  • the pins you marked as found, for each map;
  • the categories you turned on, and whether found pins are hidden;
  • your light or dark theme choice.

You can delete this data at any time with the Reset button on the map or by clearing site data in your browser settings. The Export button creates a backup file on your device; we never see it.

Information collected automatically

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like every web host, Cloudflare receives technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser type and operating system, and the referring page. Cloudflare uses this information to deliver the site, keep it secure and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare's handling of this data is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, how long visits last, which site or search led you here, and general device, browser and approximate location (country or city) information. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) to tell visits apart and processes this data on our behalf. It does not store full IP addresses, and we never send it your name, email address or the pins you mark on the map. We use the reports only in aggregate to improve the site.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google and its partners are third-party vendors that use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads and their cookies are used, through a consent message that meets Google's requirements. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings link shown with that message. If you do not consent, you may still see non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping and fraud prevention.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies does not stop the map from working, but your saved progress lives in local storage, so clearing all site data will remove it too.

Content loaded from other services

Some pins show a screenshot written by the HoYoLAB community. When you open such a pin, the image is loaded from HoYoverse's image servers, which receive your IP address and browser information as part of that request, under HoYoverse's privacy policy. Screenshots are loaded only when you open a pin that has one. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

How we use information

We use the limited information described above only to:

  • deliver the site and keep it fast, secure and available;
  • understand which pages and features are used, so we can improve them;
  • show advertising that funds the site;
  • reply to you if you email us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not build profiles of individual visitors.

Emails you send us

If you contact us at [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to answer you and keep it only as long as needed to handle your request.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) give you rights over your personal information, including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict its processing, and opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. Because we do not collect personal information directly, most requests are best handled through the browser controls and opt-out links above. For anything else, email us and we will help.

Where the GDPR applies, the legal bases for processing are our legitimate interest in running and securing the site, and your consent for analytics and personalised advertising cookies where the law requires it.

Children's privacy

The site is a general-audience game guide and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data security and retention

The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Data saved in your browser stays there until you delete it. Technical logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited time according to its own policy.

We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
